The boring bits.
You will be asked to sign these prior to the date of your first service.
22Terms of Business for Services Effective 1st Jan 2021 (subject to change)
1. The Client is solely responsible for any and all harm or damage caused by their dog while it is under the care of Lucy’s Leads, or is using any other services provided by Lucy’s Leads, and agrees to indemnify Lucy’s Leads Cardiff Dog Services in full against any liability arising from such harm or damage to third parties.
2. The Client agrees that, in admitting their dog, Lucy’s Leads Cardiff has relied on the Client’s representation that their dog is in good health and has not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behaviour toward any person or any other dog.
3. All dogs will be subject to an initial assessment by Lucy’s Leads Cardiff prior to using our Services. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff reserves the right to refuse admission to any dog deemed in their absolute discretion to be, or have the potential to be, dangerous or disruptive.
4. The Client agrees to notify Lucy’s Leads Cardiff immediately of any unwelcome, aggressive, procreative, or dangerous behaviour of their dog that has potential to cause harm to any other dog or individual.
5. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff offer services where dogs co-mingle in groups and the Client accepts that during the course of normal dog play their dog may sustain injuries. All dog play is carefully monitored to avoid injury, but scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, or other injuries may occur despite the best supervision.
6. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff will only let dogs off the lead once agreed verbally and via the onboarding form has been completed. This will remain at the discretion of Lucy’s Leads Cardiff staff.
7. The Client is responsible for the full cost of treatment of any injuries or illness that their dog receives while under the care of Lucy’s Leads Cardiff, together with any associated costs e.g. call-out charges. The Client authorises the staff of Lucy’s Leads Cardiff to seek such veterinary advice and/or treatment as they deem necessary; where possible this will be carried out by the Client’s usual/preferred Vet, but this cannot be guaranteed (e.g. in an emergency) and the Client accepts that the staff of Lucy’s Leads Cardiff may at their discretion use any registered Vet. The Client agrees to pay all such costs immediately upon pick-up of their dog, or by agreement with the proprietor.
8. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff reserves the right to refuse admission if the Client fails to provide adequate proof of vaccinations (including bordetella), or the vaccinations are found to be expired or otherwise incomplete.
9. Bitches may not attend Lucy’s Leads Cardiff while in season or pregnant. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff reserves the right to refuse admission if these criteria are not met.
10. The Client accepts that even though their dog is vaccinated against Bordetella (Kennel Cough) there is a chance that their dog can still contract Kennel Cough. The Client agrees that they will not hold Lucy’s Leads Cardiff responsible if their dog contracts Kennel Cough while attending.
11. The Client agrees to take any necessary measures or precautions to ensure that their dog is continuously free of contagious, infectious, or otherwise communicable diseases. The Client further agrees to notify Lucy’s Leads Cardiff immediately of any infectious and/or contagious disease or conditions their dog has been exposed to or is affected by. Such diseases and conditions include, but are not limited to: Distemper, Hepatitis, Kennel Cough (Bordetella), Parvovirus, Corona virus, worms, Lyme disease, Fleas, Pregnancy, Infectious Skin Diseases and Intestinal Parasites. Lucy’s Leads Cardiff reserves the right to refuse admission until satisfied that the condition is resolved.
12. The Client consents to their dog being photographed, videotaped, and/or used in any media or advertising by Lucy’s Leads Cardiff without prior approval. All such media remain the property of Lucy’s Leads Cardiff.
13. The Client agrees that Lucy’s Leads Cardiff is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged leads, collars, tags, clothing or any other item left with their dog.
14. The Client agrees to ensure their dog has not eaten in the hour before pick up by Lucy’s Leads Cardiff to ensure sufficient time to digest food before any exercise or play. Failure to do so may result in the potentially life-threatening condition Bloat (Gastric Torsion).
15. The Client agrees via the onboarding form to provide keys/arrange access to the dog for the agreed appointment; failure to do so will result in a cancellation for that day’s service and will be paid in full by the client.
16. The Client agrees that, by giving consent to retain a set of keys via the onboarding form, will indemnify Lucy’s Leads Cardiff in full against any liability arising from loss or damage to the property or its contents, in present and future circumstances
17. I understand I am unable to cancel or change any service on the day and must give a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel any walking/daycare bookings or the full amount of the service will still be charged. This includes sickness and injury. Cancellations by the customer are required to be made as soon as possible via telephone/text message.
18. I understand I must give the minimum notice of a calendar month to cancel the monthly walking/day care commitment or the full amount of the monthly service will be collected. Cancellations by the customer are required to be made as soon as possible via telephone/text message.
19. Boarding – I understand I must give the minimum notice of a calendar month to cancel the agreed home boarding service or the full amount of the service will be collected. Cancellations by the customer are required to be made as soon as possible via telephone/text message.
20. Boarding – I understand I will pay a 50% non refundable deposit at the time of booking.
21. Retainer terms – At Lucy Leads, we operate on a retainer basis to ensure consistency and availability for all our clients. When you sign up for regular dog walking or daycare services, your place is reserved exclusively for your dog. As such, the full fee is payable regardless of attendance. This means that cancellations, whether due to holidays, illness, or other commitments, do not exempt clients from payment. The retainer system ensures we can maintain high-quality, reliable care for every dog in our schedule and plan ahead for staff levels.
22. No variation of these Terms and Conditions will have effect unless confirmed by Lucy’s Leads Cardiff in writing.
23. I authorise Lucys Leads Cardiff to obtain any emergency veterinary care that may be necessary during the time spent with my dog(s). I understand that every effort will be made to contact me prior to obtaining emergency care or contacting the vet. I accept responsibility for any charges related to this emergency care. I also authorise Lucys Leads Cardiff to use an alternative veterinarian if my regular veterinarian is unavailable.
Exclusions:
*No dog registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 will be accepted for home boarding.
Dog hybrids registered under the Dangerous Wild Animal Act 1976 (e.g. Wolf Hybrids) will not to be accepted for home boarding.
*Entire males over the age of 9 months and bitches in season or bitches due to be in season during the boarding, will not be accepted for boarding or day care.
*Vaccination certificates must be presented for copying and verification before any booking is commenced.
*Dogs from different households may be boarded subject to the following:
1. Obtaining specific written consent off each household showing confirmation that they content for their dogs to be boarded with others.
2. A mandatory, trial familiarisation session for all dogs prior to stay.
3. Separation of dogs from different households in secure areas if left unattended
